The Ability Experience is putting together a team of runners to take on the Surf City Marathon in Huntington Beach, CA on Sunday, February 1 2026. Captained by Pi Alphas, Matt Reis and Matt Guerrero, this team of runners will complete the 5k, Half Marathon or Marathon to raise funds and support for athletes with disabilities across the country!
Participants are responsible for registering for their respective distance/race directly at www.runsurfcity.com (and join The Ability Experience team) in order to participate. Signing up with The Ability Experience gives you access to a fundraising page to support the mission and access to team incentives and potential race-weekend team related events, but will not get you into the race.
Fundraising is not required, but highly encouraged. All registered participants will be eligible for the following fundraising incentives:
$250 - TeamAbEx Race-Day Shirt
$500 - Ability Experience Hat
$750 - Race registration reimbursement*
$1,000 - $100 Travel Stipend
$1,500 - $250 Total Travel Stipend
*Reimbursement amount based on registration fee for respective event: $140 Marathon; $130 Half Marathon; $50 5k
*We are currently reaching out to some disability organization partners to potentially include athletes with disabilities in the Half Marathon or 5k*
