My Journey of Hope
This summer I am participating in The Ability Experience's Journey of Hope, a bike ride across the country to raise awareness and spread a message of empathy and understanding for our friends with disabilities. I want to raise awareness, while spreading the message that everyone has different capacities and no one should be ashamed of being different.
I am an electrical engineering major at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith, and I'm embarking on this journey as a representative of the Iota Mu Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi. I have ADHD, which is classified as a disability, and I definitely felt excluded in high school due to this neuro-divergence. I want to see a world where differences aren't met with odd looks and exclusion, but rather with the understanding that different abilities enrich the world we live in. In short, by biking from California to Washington D.C., my hope is that I can do my part in making the world better by raising awareness of the beauty that exists in recognizing the abilities of everyone.
