About Gear Up New York

Gear Up New York offers Pi Kappa Phi students and alumni the opportunity to cycle 560 miles from Buffalo to New York City, all while serving communities, celebrating ability and carrying our mission across the Empire State.

Each year, the team raises $150,000 to fund life‑changing programs through The Ability Experience and to amplify voices that too often go unheard.

This is more than a ride. It’s a rolling platform for service, inclusion and leadership development. Along the route, the team visits disability service organizations, engages local communities and amplifies a message we’re proud to champion: see ability first. The physical challenge is real; the personal growth and human connection are even bigger.
